Day 4

Okay folks, it's been just four days and I'm out of ideas already! Help me out! Do you have questions? What do you want to know about me, within reason of course. What "wisdom" can I impart to you? Today will just be a random fact post. (I'm getting the distinct feeling that these random posts may show up fairly often.)

Jeff and I started to date in July, 1987. We were both on a traveling singing team from Cedarville and had spent six months practicing to tour Australia for six weeks. I always thought Jeff was handsome and very sweet but he was dating someone else and so was I. However, as we got closer to the time to leave, I remember thinking "Yay, I get to spend six whole weeks with Jeff VeStrand!"

It didn't take long--we were an item before we hit the ground in Sydney! (Yes, our daughter is named Sydney because we started to date in Australia.) Over the next six weeks, we spent as much time together as we could, getting to know one another as best you can in a close-knit group of 12 and performing 96 concerts in that time period. We did manage to have our first kiss in a McDonald's parking lot in Sydney. I still have the french fry container from that night!

Six weeks later, in early September, Jeff asked my dad if he could marry me. We got engaged that Christmas and were married on July 23, 1988. This year we will celebrate 20 years of wedded bliss! :-) I love you Jeff!

(Oh, did I forget to mention that both Jeff and I were child prodigies? We graduated from college at the age of 12.)

I guess Nate & I are the take it slow couple. We dated for 2 1/2 years and were engaged for 1 1/2 years. Of course, our engagement was mostly spent long distance. There is no way that I would recommend that long of an engagement if you lived in the same city.

I love hearing these stories about others.
