Blood, Sweat, and Tears
It's official: we're nuts. It was the hottest day of the year so far (heat index of 110 degrees) and we have friends visiting and decided it would be a great day to visit our nation's capital. Blood---several blisters. Sweat--you can only imagine the sweat. Tears--many from the children at different times throughout the day. But, all in all, we had a great time! We rode the Metro (affectionaly referred to as the "space-shuttle-shooter-outer" because of its futuristic appearance) in to DC, and I think that would have been adventure enough for the kids! They were just thrilled to ride a train! Then we did a marathon speedwalking/sweating tour of the White House, the Vietnam War Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the WW II Memorial, the Capitol Building, and finally the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Whew!!! It was hot and tiring but we made some great memories with great friends!
