Day 98

It's here! It's finally here! The Peace in the Pandemonium Bloggy Giveaway contest is "live" as of today!!

Now, I have spent countless hours trying to be creative about this. I have considered word riddles, grammar correction contests, haiku writing, trivia contest, etc. But, in the end, I decided that I really would just like you all to focus on something good and positive.

So...........if you would like to be entered into the contest for that there very COOL box full of my favorite things, just leave a comment telling me one thing you are thankful for. The only requirement is that you be little bit creative. We all know you are thankful for your family, your healthy, a free country, your salvation. So try to think outside that very COOL box over there and tell me something you are thankful for that maybe you don't remember to be thankful for every day. That's it.

You may enter just once until midnight on Monday, June 23, which will be Day 100 of this crazy challenge. We will take all of the entries and choose a winner at random. Once the winner is chosen and the package is mailed or delivered, depending on who wins, I will make a post and show you all what my favorite things were! We can't spoil the surprise for the winner by posting that information too early.

I hope you will leave a comment. Not just because you hope to win but because it will force you to take one quick minute and focus on being thankful. And, even though I can't win, I will go first and let you know that I am thankful for the very cool website www.picnik.com. It's a FREE photo editing website where you can do ALL kinds of crazy and fun things to those otherwise dull and boring photos (you can see my masterpiece above). Go have a look! But make sure you have lots of time to goof around.

Good luck---and may the most thankful reader win!

I'm thankful for technology which has allowed me to connect with untold numbers of people all over the world in the last 10 years. I have met people I never would have and made some lifelong friends. I'm so blessed!

I am thankful that our entire (17!)family will be staying in one condo for one week this year in Myrtle Beach. It should be MEGA fun! I'm also (extremely!!) thankful that both of my kids will be in school full-time and they have managed to make it at home with me for countless years and they don't seem too messed up...!!!

I am thankful for finding your blog. I found your blog through Nathan & Tricia's and in finding their blog, became an organ donor when I got my license renewed yesterday! I have enjoyed reading your blog and speaking with you at church.

I am thankful for the gift of memories.

Sometimes they serve as reminders to help us in making future decisions, like... "Don't eat that....it makes you sick."

Sometimes they are painful and bitter but they present opportunities for gratitude, like..."I lived through that. Thank you Jesus."

Most always they make me stop and be more *present* right now because it is always beyond me how much time has gone by and many beautiful precious memories my life is already full of!

Ok...this may seem a little silly (unless you are also 6 months pregnant), but I am thankful for Sonic and their 99 cent milkshakes this summer. And a husband who will pick one up for me on his way home. :)

I am thankful for Christian friends. There are those that I see every week, some I see once in a while and then there are those I have only "met" via the internet. We share many things because of our bond in Christ. We share our joys, sorrows, questions, pet peeves, silliness, and many laughs. We may have different backgrounds and perspectives but that is how we learn.

Jen, I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog as you've taken this 100 day challenge. It has been informative and "entertaining." :-) Please keep posting as often as possible! Thanks!! Denise

I am thankful for Cheerios. Yes, I said Cheerios! I never really appreciated them until recently, when I discovered that a nice handful of circular cereal on a high chair tray can keep an 8 month old boy entertained long enough for his mommy to get dinner going. So thanks, General Mills, for Cheerios!

And of course, thank to Jen for giving me something pleasant to look forward to reading each day. I will miss your daily blog entries!

I am thankful that God created us so that we could laugh. It is so much fun in the back of the van (when you're tired and everything makes you laugh) to sit back and crack up with my sisters.

Can't wait to see what's in the bloggy giveaway!

On the funny side, I am thankful that I wasn't a pioneer woman - we never would have left New England or Plymouth Rock - or England for that matter - I probably would have been one of those that jumped ship. I am thankful for "modern" conveniences(i.e.: indoor plumbing, electricity, microwaves, etc.) - again, I never would have made it as a pioneer woman. I also am thankful for technology - since I moved away from my high school friends it makes keeping in touch much, much easier since I'm not one to pick up a pen and all that stationary that I have accumulated!

I am also thankful for a Godly heritage - I was reared in a loving home that taught me well.

i am thankful for:

calm after a storm,
the quiet sigh of a baby at work after he cried for an hour,
and the ability to sleep safely and peacefully in my bed each night.

I am thankful for regular camera's and video camera's because they allow you to capture little moments of life. They also help you remember when your memory has grown faint of a person or people you have lost. They also help you to laugh...a lot.

Andddd... (I don't know if this is cheating saying two) but I am also VERY thankful for PEN and PAPER for without these things I could never write my thoughts, prayers, or letters to the people who mean most to me.

I am thankful for everyday luxuries: clean running water, electricity, a two car family, etc. All of these things-- I forget to be thankful for on a daily basis. In other parts of the world those luxuries are unheard of.

I am VERY thankful for indoor plumbing! I can still remember using the "outhouse" when visiting my country relatives! It was fun for awhile but not something I would want to experience 24/7/365!

Thanks for the blog!

After spending ten days with my brother's children, and reading your blog, I am thankful that God chose you both to have 4 precious treasures, and to only give my OCD self one. The scheduling, the projects, the laundry, the "discussions" of who started it, the lunches to pack, the homework to do... you are my heroes, and deserve many jewels in your crowns!!!

Believe it or not, I too am thankful for my computer. (I know I'm not original in saying so.....see other comments above.)

I NEVER would've thought I'd say that, being that I am NOT a technological, gadget loving type of girl. For proof, you can check out my post from April of this year:

www.kathi-homefront.blogspot.com/2008/04/i-am-not-robot-and-neither-are-my.html

However, in the course of the past year I've met several new friends through my blog and also through email. (You're one of them Jen! :) It has been such a blessing to meet them "live and in real life" after communicating over the computer.

Thanks for the 100 days! I look forward to reading
more.

I am thankful for Dove soap - because - I have very, very little sense of smell and on a warm, humid day, I can actually smell it in the shower!!
