It only took two days in office for President Obama to reinstate the "Mexico City Policy", which President Bush had suspended during his administration. Under this policy "the U.S. government could not provide funding for family planning services to clinics or groups that offered abortion-related services overseas, even if funding for those activities came from non-government sources. It essentially barred recipients of U.S. foreign aid from promoting abortion as a method of family planning." Apparently, even though our own economy is in the tank, we have the funds to support the murder of unborn children around the world.
This past week, Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) introduced an amendment to strike down the repeal of this ban. Third world countries need education, sustainable business, food, and medical care, not abortions.
We are in a financial crisis, and yet we have money to fund foreign abortions. How is this acting responsibility?
